Pantomime - Mime Art

Pantomime (mime, pantomime or mime) Pantomime art is known as the ancestor of the performance art. In general, pantomime is a performance art that takes place through body and facial expressions without using words.

In the dictionary of the Turkish Language Association, it is seen that there are three different uses as pantomime, pantomime and mime. However, Turkish Language Association claims that the word "pantomime" is a typographical error. Although some artists insist on the word "pantomime", it is common in daily life. it appears that the usage is "mime" and "pantomime".

Pantomime art is divided into two separate branches according to the use of body and mimic performance. Classic mime, which is a theatrical performance in which facial expressions are used intensively, and physical mime, in which body performance is displayed independently of facial gestures, are two separate branches of pantomime art.

The corporeal mime, which has a free and rich form in educational terms, has not been as popular as classical mime in performance arts, but in recent years, the art of pantomime, whose importance has been understood in our country and in the world, is more active and continues.

In order to make better sense of the pantomime art, it is necessary to analyze its difference with other performance arts well. Since the pantomime art can perform independently from music and rhythm, it differs from the art of dance, from the art of theater because it does not have to be dependent on words and texts.

Erdinç Dinçer, who has made great contributions to the development of this art in our country, is one of the pioneers of the art of mime in our country. He successfully represented this art by establishing the Mimar Sinan Pantomime Club and later his own Mim Theater with his friends in Ergin Kolbek and made great contributions to the art of mime with the Turkish characters he developed. He also observed the mime theater and, by establishing the Taner Barlas Mim Theater in our country, he brought many theater classics to the stage with the rich expression techniques of mime art.

Performing arts activities in the world, including the art of pantomime, are shifting to non-verbal performances and the studies are enriched in this field.

Since its establishment, Vedat Zar Mim Academy has set its primary goal to contribute to the development of performance arts, and today it supports hundreds of students to express this art in the most accurate and rich way.
